Y-Kids Pasifika has a focus to nurture, nourish the values, morals, culture and language of Pasifika cultures.
In Pasifika culture we believe that "It takes a village to raise a kid" therefore we encourage our whanau to be involved and to participate in our programme.
Y-Kids Pasifika is an extension of Y-Kids Early Learning Centre. It is situated on its own, within the YMCA Nelson campus.
Pasifika opened 2 years ago after responding to feedback from the community, with the aim to cater for our growing Pasifika children in our society.
The Pasifika programme operates with three teachers who are of Pacific ethnicity and fluent in their language.
Pasifika caters for children ages 2-5 years.
Y-Kids fees applies to the Pasifika Programme.
We operate from 8:30am - 3:30pm weekly & accommodate for 21 children of all nationalities.
Curriculum & Programme
In Pasifika we nurture 3 different languages along with Te reo Maori & English.
The curriculum consists of a yearly planned programme. This plan is developed using cultural lenses that are inclusive of Pacific values, principles and encompass Te reo Maori.
The programme is valuable, educational, knowledgeable, informative, inclusive and respectful. Spontaneous programmes are also encouraged & supported in this environment.
